Recognizing the critical need for women's perspectives in shaping technology, APC established the Women's Networking Support Programme (APC WNSP). This dedicated program became a cornerstone of APC's commitment to ensuring women would not be left behind in the emerging digital landscape.

Since 1993, the APC WNSP has played a leading role in gender and ICT advocacy in national, regional and international arenas. The ICT policy work began during the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995. Since then, the 'gender and ICT' agenda has steadily gained legitimacy as a serious area of concern through painstaking work by women's groups and gender and ICT advocates
