"Hacking the UN to code technology and women’s rights into the system"

In a landmark achievement, APC successfully advocated for the inclusion of Strategic objective J.1 in the Beijing Platform for Action: "Increase the participation and access of women to expression and decision-making in and through the media and new technologies of communication." This pioneering policy work connected women's networks globally and established the critical link between technology access and women's rights. 

This early policy victory demonstrated APC's effectiveness in translating grassroots digital experiences into formal international commitments. It represented a culmination of years of network-building and established a foundation for future policy work that would connect internet rights with women's rights frameworks.
