A collective term used to refer to the most powerful companies in the digital economy and their monopolistic position, in other words, the largest and most influential technology companies in the world. Also known as Tech Giants or Tech Titans. This label is based on parallels with comparable examples in other sectors, such as "Big Oil" or "Big Pharma".
Style information
We use the spelling Big Tech (with both words beginning with a capital letter) when referring to these companies as a collective entity. This does not apply when the term is used as a descriptor, e.g. big tech platforms, big tech corporations, etc.
