Pamela Ariza
Pamela has almost 10 years of experience in logistics coordination for bringing people together for different sorts of reasons and events. Before joining APC in 2022, Pamela worked for the British Council in collaborative projects with the Chilean Ministry of Education, facilitating the convening and realisation of professional development activities for hundreds of Chilean teachers a year. Earlier, Pamela had gained experience in logistics through involvement in the organisation of cultural and musical events, a path she was led to thanks to her own music career as a pop singer/songwriter and her endless curiosity as an architect.
Purpose of position
The convenings lead holds responsibility for coordinating convening life cycles and supporting APC staff learning of systems, policies and procedures (SP&P) for their implementation. They play a strategic role in ensuring that the convening life cycles contribute to APC strategy 3 – [S3] Build capacity and institutional strength – and support the effective implementation of APC’s strategic plan (outcomes 4 and 5). They are responsible for coordinating the convening life cycle of APC-wide events led by APC mechanisms (APC strategic leadership, programmes, communications and network development, and operations and organisational development). This includes any in-person, online or hybrid events that involve logistics planning. The convenings lead works in close collaboration with the operations manager and the information and systems coordinator, and is an active member of the APC Communal Infrastructure cross-team. They are responsible for supporting APC staff coordinating overall event planning, securing primary services for events (including venue hire and contracting of services), supporting participants on all logistics matters, organising all of the information required for an event, and managing the convenings budget. They contribute towards maintaining accurate and consolidated organisational practices and SP&P centred on safety and care; and building, developing and suggesting new systems and workflows for APC logistics processes, providing the necessary capacity to APC administrative, operational and finance staff.
